CDC, ASPR issue pandemic planning tools
Five scenarios developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) can help public health officials and others evaluate the potential effects of different community mitigation strategies such as social distancing. The COVID-19 Pandemic Planning Scenarios are designed to help inform decisions by federal agencies engaged in mathematical modeling. Hospital administrators may also find the scenarios useful in assessing their resource needs. The numerical values or parameters used in the scenarios will change as more data become available about the upper and lower bounds of COVID-19’s severity and the transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2.
