Cardinal recalls surgical gowns

On Jan. 21, medical device manufacturer Cardinal Health recalled specific production lots of several types of single-sterile and bulk non-sterile surgical gowns in response to concerns about their potential contamination. The company says the gowns were manufactured at facilities that did not maintain proper environmental conditions as required by law. The American Hospital Association (AHA) has urged Cardinal Health and the Food and Drug Administration to reassess their oversight of contract manufacturers in light of this supply chain disruption. The FDA said it is monitoring the situation and will keep the public informed. (AHA advisory, 1/22/20)
