AONL Education Director Outlines Top Drivers of Nurse Engagement
"Team member engagement is directly related to one's commitment and connection to their organization," Crystal Lawson, DNP, RN, AONL’s education director told HealthLeaders Media in an interview. Lawson said building a culture of engagement requires recruiting and hiring nurses who are committed to the health system’s mission and creating an environment where they can flourish. Disengaged nurses, estimated to make up 15% of the workforce, impact patient safety, mortality rates, the quality of care and patients’ experience, which ultimately results in lost revenue. AONL is offering a three-day virtual, interactive course on building a culture of engagement through the Virtual Nurse Management Institute on April 28-30. (HealthLeaders Media article, 4/12/21)
