AONL CEO outlines actions to improve maternal health
Hospital and health system interventions in Oregon and Pennsylvania are achieving positive outcomes in eliminating maternal mortality and reducing morbidity related to childbirth, two goals of the American Hospital Association (AHA). AONL CEO and AHA senior vice president/chief nursing officer Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, recently described the state initiatives and AHA efforts to help members achieve the association’s maternal health goals. The AHA has identified four actions leaders can take: evaluate and act on data, examine and eliminate disparities, engage mothers and their families, and partner with community stakeholders. Last year, AHA launched its Better Health for Mothers and Babies effort. This coming April, AHA will host an Executive Forum: Accelerating the Momentum on Maternal and Child Health in Austin, Texas.
