ANA: Coronavirus Task Force should include nursing
In a May 7 letter to the White House, Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, president of the American Nurses Association (ANA), thanked President Trump for recognizing nurses’ contributions on the front lines of COVID-19 and urged him to appoint a nurse to the Coronavirus Task Force. Grant recommended the task force focus on the mental health of providers, who are already experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. He also called on the administration to take steps to ensure the safety of health care professionals and the public and to include nurses in decision-making on reopening plans. (ANA letter, 5/7/20)
