American Academy of Nursing to focus on links between nurse and patient health
The American Academy of Nursing said last week that highlighting the links among nurse well-being, work environments and patient safety will be a priority for the organization in 2020. Reducing provider, patient and system burden is one of three policy priorities approved by the academy last fall. Two academy policy briefs highlight concerns about nurse fatigue and electronic health records. The academy also intends to support “research and tangible solutions into the risks for suicide among nurses,” said Eileen Sullivan-Marx, PhD, RN, academy president.
