Workforce app acts as preceptor for nurses

A shortage of preceptors led Singing River Health System to rely for the past year on a workforce app to train nurses. The Mississippi Gulf Coast community-based provider piloted a customized health workforce empowerment app at its Pascagoula hospital and recently implemented it in many departments throughout the entire health system. Nurses can access a resource hub containing hospital best practices through interactive guides, how-to video clips, short updates and intuitive checklists. The app is popular with new nurses who are well versed in technology for reinforcing information they learned during orientation. It also has compensated for some of the clinical training nursing students lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. (HealthLeaders Media article, 6/26/23)
