Women still recovering from pandemic health care job losses
Women, who dominate the health care job sector, suffered steeper job losses during the COVID-19 pandemic than men. Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers show women reentering the workforce at a slower rate as well. The impact is pronounced in home care and long-term care, where 3% and 10% fewer women respectively were working in January 2021 than the previous year. Women also lag behind men in regaining employment in hospital and outpatient care settings. (Modern Healthcare article, 5/17/21)
