Webinar seeks to prevent suicide in health care workforce

The American Hospital Association will host a webinar on June 15 from 1:00-2:00 ET on preventing suicide in the health care workforce. The webinar will provide an overview of AHA’s new workforce well-being guide on the topic. Speakers will discuss the three drivers of suicide ─ stigma, limited access to behavioral health resources and treatment, and job-related stressors ─ and 12 evidence-informed interventions leaders can implement to better support the mental well-being of their workforce and reduce suicide risk. Participants must register in advance. Separately, a study published in the May issue of JAMA Psychiatry describes a quality improvement initiative that reduced suicide and suicide-related acute care for patients presenting to the emergency department with suicide ideation.
