Wearable device employed against violence in health care settings
To combat violence and ease the mental burden of front-line staff, Bassett Healthcare Network, based in Cooperstown, N.Y., began deploying a wearable emergency alert system across its five hospitals and other settings. The system uses a button on a small badge to transmit the wearer’s location. Bassett configured the system to send alerts to nearby co-workers as well as to its central security team. To preserve employees’ privacy, the devices do not track the wearers’ locations until an alert is triggered. (Fierce Healthcare article, 6/8/21)
