USPSTF supports screening for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
Clinicians should screen for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, according to a draft statement from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. During each prenatal visit, pregnant patients should have their blood pressure measured to identify and prevent serious health problems. The recommendation expands on a 2017 recommendation to screen for preeclampsia to include all hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, which can cause serious and fatal complications. Comments on the draft recommendation are due by March 6. (Medscape article, 2/7/23)
