Trump Administration ends CDC flu vaccine campaign
The Trump Administration halted a successful flu vaccination campaign run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The campaign contrasted images of wild animals, such as a lion, with small animals, such as a kitten, to convey how immunization can help tame the severity of the flu. Paid media ended this week, and the CDC took down the webpages for the 2024 campaign and replaced them with information about the 2023 campaign. The decision to stop the campaign comes in the midst of the most severe flu season in 15 years. CDC data suggest this season’s flu vaccine may have been a poor match to a strain of this year’s virus.
