Travel clinicians: Salary top factor in return to permanent positions
Top considerations travel nurses weigh in determining whether to return to a permanent position are hourly wage, benefits, workload, commute time and flexible schedules, according to a report. Vivian Health’s The Future of Healthcare Work Report 2023 found 86% of clinicians with travel contracts would consider accepting permanent employment this year if offered a competitive wage. Respondents expressed preference for flexible work arrangements that fit into busy lives, offer protections from rising incivility and violence, and provide support for mental health and well-being. Vivian Health surveyed nearly 1,700 clinical and clinical-support staff nationwide to gauge travel versus employed clinicians’ perceptions about wages and their work environment.
