Technology can give nurses more time with patients
An article explores how hospitals and health systems can streamline technology to enable nurses to spend more time caring for patients, making their work more meaningful and reducing burnout and turnover. In describing the dwindling time nurses spend caring for patients, the article cites AONL’s longitudinal study finding nurse managers spend 60-80% of their time on recruitment, staffing and scheduling. Placing health care operations software on a single platform and using digital approaches to automate tasks could free up more time for nurses to care for patients. Technology also can be used to integrate scheduling, credentialing and compliance management to improve patient quality. (MedCity News article, 11/28/23)
