Survey responses needed on communication, health care outcomes

Nurses are invited to fill out the Silence Kills 2.0 survey for a study exploring the caregiver’s capacity to speak up across a variety of circumstances.and identifying behaviors needed to do so more effectively. Sponsored by Crucial Learning, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Rush University and other health systems, the 10-minute survey seeks to identify communication patterns affecting health care outcomes. The researchers will collect the responses anonymously and report findings in aggregate. The initial study, conducted in 2005, found how people communicate about risky, high stakes concerns in health care profoundly affects patient safety, quality of care, workplace satisfaction and retention.
