Study: AI detects anxiety, depression in health care workforce
An artificial intelligence tool can help detect work-related anxiety and depression in health care workers, a study found. Published recently in the Journal of Medical Internet Research AI, the researchers used an AI tool to analyze psychotherapy transcripts from telehealth visits in the spring of 2020 for 820 health care workers and 820 non-health care workers. Among health care workers, the results revealed those who spoke to their therapists about working in a hospital unit, lack of sleep or mood issues were more likely to be diagnosed with anxiety and depression compared with health care workers who did not discuss these topics. The authors believe the tool eventually could screen for detecting and tracking anxiety and depression symptoms among health care workers. (Medscape article, 11/3/23)
