Stabenow introduces AONL-supported nurse education bill

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., introduced this month the Educating Future Nurses Act (S. 1586), along with Sens. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and Bob Casey, D-Penn. The AONL-supported bill would create a national graduate nurse education program. It would establish a permanent funding stream in Medicare for hospitals to partner with schools of nursing, community-based care settings and other hospitals to increase clinical education for advanced practice registered nursing students. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., is planning to introduce companion legislation in the House. (Sen. Hassan news release, 5/12/23)
