Simulation center registry of medical errors could improve care
Developing a registry across simulation centers of medical errors made during simulation training could aid in developing targeted education programs leading to improved patient safety, a study concluded. The authors believe a registry could better aggregate, analyze and disseminate insights from various simulation exercises. Published this week in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Journal of Patient Safety, the study sought to identify and categorize the type and frequency of reported medical errors in health care simulation. Only 20 articles of 1,105 articles screened reported primary research on medical errors occurring during simulated health care. (AHRQ Journal of Patient Safety article, 2/14/24)
