Short supply of nurses top issue facing CNOs, Dolan says
CNOs should use their influence to implement strategies to encourage more people to become nurses, says AONL member Lisa Dolan, MSN, RN. Dolan, who serves as the senior vice president and CNO of Nashville, Tenn.,-based Ardent Health Services says CNOs should collaborate with schools of nursing to augment their staffing and clinical instructors to enable them to take additional students. The short supply of nurses is the top issue facing CNOs in 2024, Dolan said, with staffing support roles, innovation, retaining front-line nurse leaders and burnout rounding out the top five issues.
