Self-assessments shed light on challenges facing new nurse executives
Data from the first two cohorts of AONL Nurse Executive Fellowship participants provided insight into challenges faced by new executives. and how self-awareness can improve performance to address those challenges. Writing in the October issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration, AONL Senior Director of Leadership Development Beverly Hancock and fellowship faculty discussed how in-depth specialized self-assessments helped participants understand themselves and improve their leadership skills. The fellowship supports nurses who are new to an executive role, helping them to develop critical executive competencies.
