RWJF program shows accelerated nursing PhD success

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Future of Nursing Scholars program achieved its goal of developing PhD-prepared nurses primed for long-term careers more quickly, according to an article in Nursing Outlook. The program showed high-quality accelerated PhD education for students well matched with mentors could attain PhDs in approximately three years. School representatives believed the program “supported rapid entry into the field, longer research trajectories and will improve the nursing faculty pipeline.” The program included 201 scholars at 45 schools; 181 have graduated, with the final cohort finishing their dissertations.
