RNs describe creation, experience of dedicated proning team
An article in the July issue of American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Advanced Critical Care described the use of a designated proning team serving 11 intensive care units (ICUs) at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The innovative proning program supported the care of COVID-19 patients around the clock at a time when the disease forced the hospital to more than double its ICU capacity. According to the researchers, ICU clinicians saw the team as an asset and were more likely to order prone positioning knowing a trained team was available. (Newswise news release, 7/21/21)
