Podcast explores Boston Medical Center’s health equity advancements

An American Hospital Association podcast explores Boston Medical Center’s health disparity work and its creation of the Health Equity Accelerator to achieve health justice in its communities. The Health Equity Accelerator is a systemwide approach to address the root causes of health inequities. In 2020, BMC set to close disparity gaps, including in maternal health and diabetes care, and established metrics to measure its progress. The hospital also strengthened ties with the communities it serves and emphasized giving community members agency. BMC received the AHA’s 2024 Foster G. McGraw Prize, which recognizes the efforts of hospitals and health systems to improve the health and well-being of their communities.
