Podcast discusses military-informed care
In an American Hospital Association podcast, representatives from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Orlando, Fla.-based Nemours Children’s Health discuss how hospitals can meet the unique health care needs of veterans and their families. Military families confront higher emotional or mental stress, larger rates of traumatic brain injury and longer rehabilitation and recovery than other families. Nemours has partnered with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation to offer a free professional development course for providers to learn how to best support the millions of children who serve as primary and secondary caregivers to parents recovering from military injuries. Separately, the American Academy of Nursing released findings from a policy dialogue discussing the unique health challenges faced by military and veteran families.
