Pennsylvania hospitals reduce turnover
Improving pay and benefits, developing talent and prioritizing worker safety helped Pennsylvania hospitals reduce turnover by 28% in 2023, according to a report. The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania’s workforce report found nearly all facilities reported increasing base compensation (97%), offering flexible work schedules (95%), and providing professional development and tuition reimbursement (89%). Nearly all hospitals are working with four-year colleges and universities (99%), community colleges (99%) and high schools (92%) to develop a pipeline of talent. They also are reducing violence by implementing staff education on safety protocols (97%), enhancing security measures (95%) and providing de-escalation training (95%).
