Parchment discusses ways to strengthen nursing workforce
In an American Hospital Association Leadership Dialogue Series episode, AONL Board member Joy Parchment, PhD, RN, explores how the hospital field can better support nurses and nursing teams to build a strong workforce. Parchment, an assistant professor of nursing at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, explains how nurses depend on having exemplary leaders who give them the tools and resources to create and support a robust workforce. She describes how nursing schools need to ensure nurses are ready to practice upon graduation. In addition, she discusses the importance of adopting technology that supports nurses, working with partners to expand education and development opportunities, and testing new care models. She also discusses how to overcome workplace violence and burnout. (AHA Chair File article, 6/24/24)
