OSU to host webinar on addressing nursing’s mental health stigma
Ohio State University will hold a webinar on addressing nursing’s mental health stigma on Oct. 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET. AONL member Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, APRN, OSU’s vice president for health promotion and chief wellness officer, and attorney J. Corey Feist, president and co-founder of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, will discuss findings from their national review of nursing licensure applications. Published in Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing, their review found only 26% of states followed recommended guidance in not asking intrusive mental health questions on nursing licensure applications. Melnyk and Feist also will discuss the urgent action needed to lift the pervasive mental health stigma in the nursing profession. (OSU news release, 10/16/23)
