Nurses top Gallup poll of most trusted professions

Nurses once again garnered the highest ethics rating from Americans among 17 professions, a distinction they have held for more than two decades. Nearly 80% of U.S. adults say nurses have “very high” or “high” honesty and ethical standards. However, their share fell from a high of 89% in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Medical doctors and pharmacists ranked second and third behind nurses in this year’s poll, with 62% and 58% of Americans, respectively, rating them highly. (Gallup news release, 1/10/23)
