Nurses prepare for cyberattacks with downtime drills

With cyberattacks increasing in frequency, clinicians need to prepare for disrupted access to electronic health records and workflows. In the current issue of Nurse Leader, nurses at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles provide ways to prepare through downtime drills. The authors suggest the use of downtime boxes with paper charts for each patient, additional necessary forms and clear instructions for using a business continuity computer. The entire February issue of Nurse Leader is open access and includes articles on disruptive innovation brought about by the pandemic and the ethical recruitment of international nurses, among other topics.
