Nurse practitioners named top U.S. profession
U.S. News & World Report ranked nurse practitioners at the top of its “best jobs” list for the second year. Physician assistants came in third. The magazine said nurse practitioners came in first because of their critical role in health management, flexibility and strong, ten-year job growth outlook. To determine the rankings, U.S. News & World Report gathered data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to find jobs with the greatest hiring demand. The outlet then scored the jobs using measures of future prospects (30%), wage potential (25%), employment (20%), job safety and stability (15%) and work-life balance (10%).
