Nurse leaders transition to careers in non-traditional settings

With the pandemic prompting nurse leaders to pause and re-examine their career trajectories, some are considering alternatives to hospital-based roles. An article in the October issue of Nurse Leader described how those looking for a change can align their experience and expertise with their personal and career goals as they explore opportunities in nontraditional settings. “As health care increasingly moves beyond the hospital walls, the opportunities for hospital-based nurse leaders to emerge and fulfil new roles also increases,” the authors wrote. They recommend self-assessment, reflections, brainstorming tools, informational interviews and using social media to explore career options.
