Nurse Staffing Think Tank recommendations highlighted

The Nurse Staffing Think Tank recommendations for policymakers, health system leaders and nursing organizations were discussed in the August issue of the American Journal of Nursing. The recommendations provide an “action plan for the necessary cultural shift in health care delivery that can drive improved nurse retention, healthier work environments and better patient outcomes,” the Think Tank’s report stated. The priority areas for stakeholders to address within the next 12 to 18 months are creating healthy work environments; fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and improving work schedule flexibility. Other priority areas are to address nurse burnout, foster innovative care delivery models and compensation packages for nurses. Robin Begley, AONL CEO and American Hospital Association chief nursing officer and senior vice president of workforce, served on the Nurse Staffing Think Tank.
