NIH launches long COVID-19 clinical trials
The National Institutes of Health this week opened enrollment for clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of at least four potential treatments for long COVID in adults. Additional clinical trials, informed by findings from research over the past two years, will test at least seven more treatments. The trials will evaluate multiple treatments at the same time to identify those that are effective more quickly. In related news, the Department of Health and Human Services launched its Office of Long COVID Research and Practice to coordinate and lead the federal response to long COVID.
