NCC statement honors former Congresswoman Johnson

The Nursing Community Coalition released a statement honoring former Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, who died last week. A trailblazer, Johnson was the first Black chief psychiatric nurse serving the nation’s veterans in Dallas, Texas, a state House and Senate leader, and the first nurse elected to Congress. The NCC, which includes AONL and 62 other national nursing organizations, praised her for her nursing advocacy in Congress, noting her legacy “will continue to be an inspiration to all.” (NCC statement, 1/4/24)
