NCC expresses concerns with House appropriations committee bill
AONL and the other 63 members of the Nursing Community Coalition expressed concerns with the House Appropriations Committee’s fiscal year 2025 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education bill. The bill proposes $287.129 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs ─ an $18.343 million decrease from FY 2024 enacted levels and less than the $530 million the NCC requested. The coalition disagrees with a provision to eliminate the Nursing Workforce Diversity program. In addition, it opposes a provision to consolidate the National Institute of Nursing Research and four other institutes and centers into a combined National Institute on Health Sciences Research. The NCC says it looks forward to working with Congress to restore and elevate nursing program and research funding in FY 2025. (NCC statement, 7/11/24)
