Joint Commission guide explains how to provide sensitive care
The Joint Commission this week issued a guide to help health care staff understand how to provide sensitive care for diverse populations. The guide, offered as an e-book site license to health care organizations, provides basic knowledge and awareness about the many ways in which patients are diverse to help health care providers strengthen the connection between health care equity and quality health care. The guide focuses on aspects of diversity that go beyond ethnicity, race, culture and religion, and covers sexual orientation, gender identity, generational/age-related needs, disabilities and more. Health care organizations can purchase the guide. (Joint Commission Online article, 8/9/23)
