Joint Commission eliminates 200 standards

The Joint Commission announced last week it would eliminate and consolidate more than 200 standards in its accreditation programs, effective Aug. 27. The effort is part of an initiative started in 2022 to streamline requirements and make them as efficient and impactful on patient safety and quality as possible. The standards pertain to care settings outside the hospital. (Joint Commission news release, 7/20/23)
