Hospital offers support group for RN doctoral candidates
A doctoral support group for nurses that began in 2008 at Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. has enabled members to apply lessons from their studies to their leadership and clinical practice roles. The group has enabled CNH to assist doctoral students in advancing their research and in identifying research teams and other collaborators, as well as to support the creation of new positions for staff after they receive their doctorates. In addition, CNH offers a Nursing Science Collaborative for doctoral graduates to identify collaborators, find mentors with doctorates and pursue research opportunities within the hospital. The Journal of Nursing Administration published an article in the February issue about the group, which meets monthly.
