Hospital automates COVID-19 screening at entrances
To reduce staff time spent manually screening visitors for fever, one New York hospital equipped a self-service cart with a thermal camera, a computer tablet with a screening questionnaire and a printer to create badges indicating a successful screening. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a driver of innovation, says Jonathan Bandel, vice president, strategy and innovation, at White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital, who described his organization’s process for handling visitor screening in a blog post for AHA News. The hospital is a member of AHA’s Living Learning Network (LLN), a peer-to-peer community of health care professionals dedicated to helping hospitals and health systems recover, rebuild and reimagine health care.
