HRSA awards $19 million for maternal health programs

The Health Resources and Services Administration will award nearly $19 million to 15 states to identify and implement maternal health strategies. Part of HRSA’s Enhancing Maternal Health Initiative, the funds will support State Maternal Health Innovation programs to identify key drivers of maternal mortality in each state, develop strategies and implement interventions. The states have used the grants to identify and treat hypertension early to reduce preeclampsia and other risks and provide mobile simulation trainings to prepare providers for a range of adverse labor events. The states also have expanded access to trainings to rural and frontier hospitals without dedicated obstetrics departments. (HRSA news release, 10/9/24)
