HHS postpartum maternal health collaborative improving outcomes

Six states participating in the Department of Health and Human Services postpartum maternal health collaborative learning network used data to identify multiple ideas and opportunities for improvement; and implemented and tested interventions in rapid cycles of measurement and improvement in cardiovascular and behavioral health. To improve quality, the states better integrated communication channels and interoperable electronic health records between health care entities providing care for mother and baby. The six participating states were Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota and New Mexico. Separately, the Health Resources and Services Administration announced an additional $9 million in funding and a report to commemorate its one-year Enhancing Maternal Health Initiative. Eleven states and the District of Columbia participated in the initiative. (HHS fact sheet, 1/13/25)
