HCA leader shares tips for helping Gen Z nurses cope with pandemic practice
Gen Z nurses are more likely than their colleagues to say the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected their overall well-being, but unlike their older counterparts, few young nurses feel comfortable discussing their well-being with their manager. AONL member Jane Englebright, PhD, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing executive for HCA Healthcare based in Nashville, Tenn., has advice for helping younger nurses navigate the pandemic. Englebright recommends using technology to make up-to-date information instantly accessible, spending one-on-one time with individual nurses during rounding and understanding how previous adversity or lack of experience may influence Gen Z nurses’ coping skills.
