Geisinger to expand inpatient virtual nursing with USDA grant

Geisinger Health System, based in Danville, Pa., received a $948,741 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Office to expand its virtual inpatient nursing program. Launched last year, the virtual nursing program handles admissions, discharges and virtual rounds, permitting bedside nurses to focus on patient care. It supports bedside nurses in managing their workloads and enables veteran nurses to remain in the workforce without the physical demands of providing bedside care.
