Four-day workweek reduces nurse manager burnout
Offering a four-day workweek for nurse managers at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center based in Atlantic City, N.J. reduced burnout, according to CNO Barbara Cottrell, DNP, RN, an AONL member. The hospital moved to the shorter workweek ten months ago to reduce high turnover rates among nurse managers following the pandemic. AtlantiCare has seen no negative impact on patient care, and no nurse managers have quit. The nurse managers report greater job satisfaction and better work-life balance. (NPR article, 6/26/24)
