Former Penn Nursing Dean Fagin dies
Claire Fagin, PhD, RN, who transformed the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing into a world-renowned education, research and clinical development enterprise, died last week at the age of 97. She served as dean of Penn Nursing from 1977 to 1992 and as interim president of the University of Pennsylvania from July 1, 1993 to June 30, 1994, making her one of the first women to lead an Ivy League institution and the first woman to serve as interim president of Penn. Her long career combined consumer health and nursing issues, and she strived to create a paradigm for access and quality. (Newswise release, 1/16/24)
