FDA approves single dose for initial COVID-19 vaccination
The Food and Drug Administration this week authorized using a single dose of the Moderna or Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 vaccine for primary vaccination as well as for future doses. The agency believes simplifying the dosage will encourage vaccination. Also this week, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a program to maintain access to COVID-19 for uninsured Americans. The program will create a $1.1 billion public-private partnership to help maintain uninsured individuals’ access to COVID-19 care. (FDA news release, 4/18/23)
