Editorial calls for workforce protections against violence
Congress should enact legislation to offer health care workers protections against violence, according to a STAT opinion piece. Written by former AONL President Mary Beth Kingston, CNO at Advocate Aurora Health and an American Hospital Association board member, and Christopher Kang, president of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the editorial calls on Congress to pass the bipartisan Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees Act (H.R. 7961). “Emergency physicians, nurses and all hospital-based professionals work around the clock to provide quality care to everyone who needs it, and they deserve to be protected from violence as they do it,” they state.
