Demand for NPs grows
An aging population, more infectious diseases and increasing chronic diseases are fueling demand for nurse practitioners. NPs are helping to meet primary care and mental health needs across all settings, including in underserved rural and urban areas. In addition, NPs are taking on more leadership roles and participating in research to develop novel treatments. Washington D.C. and the 26 states that permit full practice authority for NPs have healthier patient outcomes than states without full practice authority. (HealthLeaders Media article, 2/6/23)
