Congress seeks to overturn Biden’s staff ratio rule
A bipartisan trio of senators joined their House Republican colleagues in introducing a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn the Biden Administration’s staff ratio rule for nursing homes. Sens. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., Jon Tester, D-Mont., and James Lankford, R-Okla., earlier this month introduced the measure, which has a “significant chance of passing the Democratically-controlled Senate” since a CRA resolution needs only a simple majority of votes. President Biden likely would veto the measure, however. The rule also faces a challenge in the courts. The American Hospital Association opposes the rule, saying it “could jeopardize access to all types of care across the continuum, especially in rural and underserved communities that may not have the workforce levels to support these requirements.” (The Hill article, 6/11/24)
