CNOs should emphasize range of benefits
To attract and retain nurses, CNOs should make prospective hires aware of the employer’s workplace culture and safety and the compensation package offered, according to AONL member Robin Steaban, MSN, RN. Steaban, the CNO at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., says nurses want flexibility. Health systems should offer positions with associated compensation providing various options. Competitive health systems offer wellness benefits, loan forgiveness, tuition assistance and compensation for certification or advancement programs.
